"changed my kids' lives"

Shanti Barclay - Parent   (Mar 29, 2018)
My child was not happy at our local public school. He loves Dragon. Everything scholastic changed at Dragon. Homework was done ahead of time. Projects were taken very seriously. Discussions about politics, art and history were common ground for the dinner table. Grades rose from 50's to 90's. My husband and I were so blown away (literally), we registered our younger children. Our younger children went through the same transition from attending school begrudgingly to waking up raring to ...

"my boys have found a home where they are understood"

Kate Hilton - Parent   (Apr 02, 2018)
The Dragon has been a godsend for our family. Both of my boys have found a home where they are understood, intellectually challenged, and surrounded by people who support and care for them. My son describes having found his tribe, at long last. The energy at the school is palpable. Students are engaged in an incredible range of activities, despite the small size of the school. The students become very close, and identify as "Dragons". It is amazing to see the graduating students talk abou...

strong teaching, engaging programs

Gideon Scanlon - Alumnus   (Apr 04, 2018)
At 15, my mother announced I would no longer be attending my strict all-boys school. I was to become a Dragon student. She may have been put off by the press coverage of a scandal at my old school, but I had doubts about the new one. It was small. Desks did not exist. I had to pick out my clothes. I soon saw the upside. The classes, mostly taught by professors, ran like university seminars. Where I would once bite my tongue, I was free to speak. I would no longer have to sit through handshaki...

"the best location for a school"

Sebastian Swarney - Alumnus   (Apr 04, 2018)
Overall Dragon really helped me grow as an individual and develop interests of my own. Although that sounds cheesy it really helped me know what I wanted to do in my future not only in a practical sense in regards to my post secondary choice but rather what I wanted out of life and who I wanted to be. The community of people there where so close and I made life long friendships with amazing people. Dragon made someone who had always been at odds with the education system and showed me how amazin...

"it was the right school for me"

Benjamin persofsky - Alumnus   (Apr 04, 2018)
The Dragon Academy made me into what I am today. The overall experience was life altering. When entering the school I had low self esteem, a poor work ethic, and I felt like I would never amount to anything. The kind staff at the Dragon took time to work with me. They helped me foccus on my strengths so that I could combat my weaknesses. Their goal was for me to succeed, and they did everything in their power to make me successful in all areas of my life.

"It was a great experience"

Bret Seifert-Pizzuti - Alumnus   (Apr 07, 2018)
The Dragon is an amazing school that both changed my perspective on education and prepared me very well for university. The atmosphere was safe, welcoming, and very supportive. The curriculum and teaching style -the Socratic method- were intrinsically intellectually engaging and challenging enough to inspire me to learn and prepare me for university academics. The frequent trips to museums, as well as study of films on relevant subject matter, further enhanced student engagement. It prepared me...

"School was finally bearable"

Casey Samii - Student   (Apr 07, 2018)
I came to the Dragon Academy when I was 10 years old and noticeably one of the youngest students. School was finally bearable. The experience is like no other. This school developed a revolutionary learning environment in which students have academic liberty and presumed competent. The school is a tight-knit community and everyone knows each other. Students often talk about the content with enthusiasm and constantly try to better their academic standards. Students also often challenge each...

Close-knit, supportive

Tony Itchystitch - Alumnus   (Apr 09, 2018)
School was a chore until I came to Dragon. There's something magical about the environment that the staff cultivate. Every class discussion, field trip, and project was engaging. I was not rarely late for my next class, because I was too distracted talking to my physics teacher about black holes, or simulating ropes. Everyone was part of the class discussion, because class was about understanding what the teacher was talking about, not just memorizing what they had to say. The tight community me...

Welcoming and dynamic

Leah Walker - Alumnus   (Apr 08, 2018)
I attended the Dragon Academy from grades 11 to 12. Before Dragon, I had been at another private school for all of my life, and despite skipping a grade and consistently high marks all through elementary and middle school, my grade 10 year was miserable, and I was underachieving in nearly all of my classes. I switched to Dragon, and suddenly I loved school again. My marks went back up, and I remember my two years at Dragon as being some of the best of my life. The community is welcoming and dyn...

Friendly atmosphere, quality teaching

Randa Higazy - Student   (Apr 12, 2018)
This is my first year attending the Dragon Academy and I absolutely love it! The community of teachers and students at the Dragon Academy is different than at any other school I have attended in Canada or abroad. Being a grade 12 student and going to university next year, the Dragon Academy has definitely prepared me to tackle challenging tasks in all my subjects of interest, as well as, greatly broaden my academic interests. I will definitely miss the morning assemblies done by the school princ...
