The McLoughlin Schools was founded in 1971 to provide a strong foundation for young thinkers 2 ½ to 6 years of age, preparing them for success in the elementary grades and beyond. Qualified, experienced instructors build social and emotional maturity, providing a strong introduction to core literacies in addition to regular music and French instruction. The school offers half-day Nursery and Senior Nursery programs five days a week. Optional developmental and speech screening programs are also available.
Our Take: The McLoughlin Schools
The McLoughlin Schools was founded on the premise that learning happens best when children are comfortable, happy, safe, and included. That’s what Ann McLoughlin intended when she formed the school in 1971, and nearly 50 years later, it remains true to her vision. Care is where it begins, rather than in the bells and whistles, something that is rightly a draw for the families that enrol here. The curriculum provides a strong basis in the basics, as it should, building a strong foundation for future learning. Shared spaces encourage interaction as well as a proving ground for the values that will serve the children today and in the future, prime among them being an empathetic approach to others. Along with a strong academic base, the goal is to encourage a desire to learn and share with others.
