What's included in Tuition

Many independent and private schools include many services and benefits in the cost of tuition that many families are already paying for their children. By factoring in these cost savings in the price of tuition, the real costs of independent and private school may not be far from reach.

Childcare costs

Canada is known for having one of the world’s most expensive childcare programs. A comparison between 25 developed nations done by the United Nations Children’s Fund placed Canada last in terms of childcare services. Private school tuition for most schools is only slightly higher than day care costs, and provides stimulation, instruction and constructive activities. Overall, enrolling your children in private school will save you money that would have been spent on expensive day care centres, while providing students with an enriched learning experience.

Extracurricular Fees

A common characteristic of private schools is an excellent schedule of extracurricular activities. Students are provided with an array of clubs and teams spanning a wide variety of pursuits right at their own school. With these opportunities, parents don’t have to worry about searching outside their children’s school for extracurricular activities that can be very costly and disruptive to a family’s schedule.

Guidance and Tutoring

At a private school, students receive individual monitoring and academic assistance. Learning problems or trouble subjects can be discovered early on, and a student can access extra help on campus without seeking out third party tutors or centres to aid learning disabilities, which can also be expensive and difficult to plan around.

Lunches

Some private schools include hot lunches and other snacks in their tuition, so families can save on food for their children, and also save time by not packing lunches.

Future Salary

With a private school education, students are likely to excel in post-secondary institutions, leading to potentially lucrative job opportunities. Students are also presented with many valuable networking opportunities among peers and private school alumni. Your financial sacrifices put the odds of financial success in their favour.
