My daughter started art lessons with Dawn-Angela when she was 11 years old and has grown tremendously as an artist under her instruction for the past 4 years. She has participated in art shows and has sold her own paintings. Dawn-Angela provides a nurturing, learning environment which allows her to express herself and explore her own artistic path. As a parent, watching my daughter's confidence grow as an artist is extremely rewarding. This is a class she never wants to miss.
In gratitude, Dawn-Angela Seeley has been instrumental in teaching our daughter to creatively express her ideas through art. She modelled exemplary behaviour as a teacher, a mentor and an artist, in our daughter's life during the most complex pre-teen and teen years of her character formation. We are forever indebted to Dawn-Angela for preparing our daughter to successfully pass the local art school auditions and to excel in finding pathways to her creativity. Most recently she accompanied Dawn-Angela on her Artist’s Getaway to Tuscany.
Avery has never been this engaged in any other after school activity. This class has been great for Avery's focus and self confidence. He looks forward to Dawn-Angela's lesson every week!
Dawn-Angela has a real gift for connecting with her young students. My daughter, Kayla, has literally begged to be enrolled in Dawn-Angela's classes each new session. Kayla also has had the opportunity to attend summer camp sessions over the last two years and the pieces she has created are truly amazing. Our home is now full of so much incredible art we don't know where to hang the next pieces :-). Dawn-Angela has not only given our daughter a strong foundation in the arts but also a real confidence in herself and what she can achieve.
The art lessons and tour of Tuscany that I've had with Dawn-Angela, have not only been about learning art, but about believing in yourself and your abilities. In 6 years she has taught me to see beauty not only in art but in myself and others, and her style of teaching allows you to appreciate things from different perspectives. Beyond Dawn-Angela’s phenomenal art instruction, she has had such a positive and lasting influence on my life.
"Dear Dawn-Angela, Thank you for helping me to learn the basic skills of art in the last two years. I had lots of fun helping with the little kids during Summer Camp too. Thank you for letting me help you at ART-ON-LOCATION."
Dawn-Angela Seeley, Artistic Director
Artist, Instructor and Tour Facilitator
"Once upon a time, there was a very dull girl, who chose graphic design as a career, because it was well paid.
I only knew that I didn’t want to be in an office with the same work schedule every day. And while graphic design was creative, I hated the monopolizing role that the computer played. I wanted artist’s tools, paint, brushes and canvas.
After a back injury when I was off work for nearly 2 years, I began to paint and to sell my work. I was happy, I didn’t miss the stress, the deadlines or the corporate world and decided that regardless of the pay, I was going to try and create a career in art for myself.
From Poor Starving Artist to.....
As a 'poor starving artist', I traded my BMW for a van. There were no more suits and high heels for me, instead comfortable clothes and an artist’s palette. For me, a trust in God and a creative outlet through my art were the only two constants in my life at the time. I was single, but wanted children. So I began teaching kids in a small Summer Camp. I created my own job. I began to plan how I could extend that beyond a very successful first summer.
Now I teach all year, instructing how to paint, how to plan, how to be mindful in painting. I try to share this story and be positive for teens who need an encouraging, nurturing atmosphere in which students feel safe. I teach through structured lessons and demos, facilitating the process for kids to express themselves creatively through their art.
Today, I have created a dream career, teaching children, teens and adults to pant, to love art and be mindful in their painting. For me, each day is different, and this was the original goal I set for myself. I am a working artist, living in Oakville, Ontario. I am an instructor and tour facilitator, having taught over 1300 children in my private Summer Art-On-Location, Art-After-Skool and Tuscany Getaway programs. I have travelled Canada, the United States, Mexico and Europe – organizing Creative Get-Aways to Tuscany, Napa Valley, France and San Miguel, Yorkshire and Ireland, just to name a few destinations!
Relaxing, Creative, Theraputic
I maintain that painting is relaxing, it’s creative and therapeutic. It’s an outlet that can help to ground you and recharge your batteries. Art can motivate you toward life changes. Couple this with travel on the Creative Get-Away and you’ve got a serene holiday, and a cultural experience that’s productive. Participants bring home meaningful paintings and photographs from the Get-Aways that often constitute what I call “a safe passage” from one chapter of life to another.
Painting away from home is different, you can be unplugged from your day to day life, you experience different artistic breakthroughs as you paint every day instead of taking an occasional lesson. The artistic momentum gained in 2 weeks is incredible. Imagine, spending two weeks in the country, 1 1/2 hours from Florence, staying in an 18th century restored country house? Living like the locals, a slower pace of life, shopping in markets for fresh food, painting cypress treed landscapes and medieval village scenes.
Why do I tell my story?
Because I believe in dreaming and then planning a way to accomplish the dreams. And hopefully inspiring young kids to follow their dreams.

Painting is optional, on our Get-Aways as we encourage the entire family to join you. We also have separate itineraries customized for children.

Live Life to the Fullest
Giuseppe Dini and I have co-authored a book entitled “An Adventure in Tuscany incorporating The Legend of Beppino, The Friendly Tuscan Wolf. The book is a travel guide, inspiring people to travel and live life to the fullest. It is a self-tour guide with sixteen daily excursions, including twenty of my own original paintings of the area. The charming Legend is about the Friendly Tuscan Wolf, which is actually the co-author, Giuseppe Dini’s life story as a boy, in Tuscany. The legend is described in fifteen parables for children (of all ages), with an object lesson for each day.
Does this sound like a book you must have, a journey you must take? Join us on our next Get Away to Tuscany & Venice, June 27, 2019. Your family/group will meet the Friendly Tuscan Wolf!
