Summer and March Break Camps integrate visual arts, drama and music and the large roster of classes for kids and teens allow for plenty of creative exploration in programs like Drawing & Painting, Digital Photography, Clay, Acting and Musical Theatre. Full and half day programs available. Fall, Winter and Spring classes are also offered for everyone from toddlers to adults.
My kids have attended multiple classes/summer camp programs at ARAS and have loved them from the preschool years through to middle school. This year, my 9 year old is enrolled in a new Creative Writing class and she literally waits all week for Wednesday to come around to attend. Wonderful instructors and environment, and such a great variety of classes available.
Friendly and knowledgeable instructors, always smiling. My daughter always brought home creative drawings and clay figures and she really enjoyed her drawing class. I think it's because they used a lot of techniques and she learned a lot. She was so proud when she shared her drawings with her regular class. There is parking behind the school but I always parked on Balmoral Ave because it's easier to get out. There are also summer camps and adult classes. I highly recommend this school.
My kids and I have been going to Avenue Road Art School for the past five years. My favorite days of the week were Tuesday's and Thursday's as I was doing what I loved, photography and pottery. My kids were part of the program where ARAS staff picked up my kids at Brown school and brought them to Avenue Road Art School which saved me in pick up and drop off time. They were provided a healthy snack when they arrived. The kids loved the different classes they took and learned so much about Art, Drama, Art History and various different mediums. We recently moved to Calgary, and I cannot find a school here that offers the same level of instruction combined with the selection of classes offered at Avenue Road Art School! Your school offers a large variety of courses, with instructors who are second to none. I enjoyed individual attention and instruction while in a group setting. My teachers encouraged me to work outside my normal boundaries to create a portfolio of work that has made me proud. Our work has been placed on high end restaurant walls and shown in our very own Sensations Show at an art Gallery in Toronto. I was hooked!! Keep up the good work. I really miss you guys. Maybe you can open a division of ARAS in Calgary??

As the Avenue Road Arts School is well into its 26th year, it is with great pride that I welcome you to an incredible environment where all can feel nurtured and safe to explore their creative side. Our vision of creating a warm space where high quality arts experiences happen is realized as students, many who have been attending the school’s programs year after year, continue to make ARAS a great place to come to learn, explore and grow. From our youngest to our most seasoned, they have created a unique community of talented and industrious creators. People are beginning to share our idea that pursuing one of the arts is not only satisfying for its own sake but can also help them to think "differently" -- and more creatively. This spills into other areas of their lives from school work to career choices, to simply being good community members.
Our faculty of dedicated and inspiring, working artists, have always provided an environment where students feel safe to take that artistic leap, try new things and reach new heights in their creative pursuits. We look to hire teachers who have a certain spark and can share a passion for their art form. We hope that you take a look at our large roster of programs for preschoolers, kids, teens and adults in both the visual and performing arts. We ensure a high-quality learning environment that runs fall, winter, spring, March Break and Summer and we offer Birthday parties. Our approach is personal, where every student has a voice. The attentive staff at ARAS encourages students to ask questions and provide feedback. We enjoy hearing from you, our student, about ways to improve your experience from registration to hands-on art- making. This one-on-one attention extends from the front desk right into the studios and we are committed to creating the best art’s school in the city.
I sincerely look forward to meeting you or your child in the School this year and I hope that you’ll explore all the wonderful programs the Avenue Road Arts School has to offer. In today's increasingly unsettling world, it’s important to look for ways to nurture our creative side and to spend time doing things that matter to us. When we explore our hidden talents or engage in the process of creative endeavours, we embark on a journey of self-discovery.

Our 12th Annual Holiday Silent Auction Begins on November 25, 2019 in Support of the Arts Access Fund.
Beginning today (until December 7) we will be hosting our 12th Annual Holiday Silent Auction! We have a wide variety of items to bid on, including artwork, gift baskets, theatre tickets, gift certificates and more! Drop by our lobby to view the items and to place your bid or visit www.32auctions.com/AAF!
All proceeds from the auction will go to the Arts Access Fund, an organization that offers support to deserving young people who would not otherwise have the opportunity to pursue artistic excellence under the guidance of professional artists.
Students of the Avenue Road Arts School have their work accepted into an annual Youth Exhibit at the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. This will be the School's second year taking part in the exhibit.
Working under the direction of faculty member, Sandra Tarantino in our Drawing and Painting class for teens, students looked at the current impact of climate change and plastic pollution through mixed media techniques. Pieces were made with acrylic paint, acrylic inks, dip pen on watercolour paper or canvas.
The Exhibit will open in February 2020.
Our Drawing and Painting (Grades 9-12) is a great class for young artists hoping to prepare a portfolio for post-secondary study in visual art while also having the ability to explore their own artistic voice.
