Fort Wellington on the St Lawrence River welcomes (?) the Black Jack with cannon fire. Should we fire back? We will have a camp fire and a rousing game of capture the flag before bedding down in the barracks as if we were actual soldiers out of 1812.
Black Jack Adventure Camp welcomes youth 12-14 to sail a tall ship in a small group, team building environment. You will learn about sailing, wind direction and compasses but you will also meet new friends and have new adventures. Each camp starts with icebreaker games and a safety orientation session. You will spend your first day learning about the ship and visit the Aquatarium, a marine discovery centre in Brockville where you can try out the high ropes course (good practice for unfurling sails) and sleep either in the planetarium or beside the otter exhibit. You will learn to sail, row and steer a 26' Navy Whaler and set sail for the 1000 Islands on the 87' Black Jack. Daily mug ups and sail training check in's ensure a solid social scene and learning opportunities for all.
Thursday pick ups are after the work day, around 6pm. Allowances may be made.
