Introduction to Coding introduces campers to strategies and activities for an introductory creative computing experience using the Scratch programming language. Designed for campers who are new to the Scratch programming language, the activities support the familiarity and increasing fluency with computational creativity and computational thinking. Campers will learn key concepts such as sequences, loops, parallelism, events, and conditionals, as well as key computational thinking practices such as experimenting and iterating, testing and debugging, reusing and remixing, abstracting and modularizing. By the end of the week, campers will learn how to code their own arcade game using Scratch and showcase it to their peers during arcade day.
*Please note that this program best suits campers ages 6-12. It is up to the parent/guardian to determine if this camp program is suitable for their child. This program involves the use of computers, keyboards, clicking and dragging, and basic reading of commands.
