This program is designed to build the following character traits:

  • Creativity: As an arts school, our number one focus is to harness our student's creativity and grow said skills to their biggest potential. We encourage creative problem solving, exploring conventional and unconventional approaches to their projects, and technical application to their projects.
  • Interpersonal skills: Students will learn how to communicate their ideas, and be cooperative with their fellow classmates. We also encourage students to self-regulate their art projects with time-management, and to embrace the learning process.

This class teaches teens how to use a variety of instruments used for drawing, including pencils, pen and ink, inked brushes, charcoal, markers and more. The instructor will teach key drawing techniques, such as lighting, proportions, perspective and shading, while focusing on the history of drawing and theory. The students will learn to incorporate step-by-step techniques that will help strengthen their creative practice. The instructor will also provide feedback, crucial to improving the students drawing and creative skillset.
