Monologue work is an essential skill for all actors – not only are there monologues in many plays, but monologues are how actors audition for roles! We’ll start by working on the techniques you need to approach a monologue, such as character development, and we’ll explore important considerations when staging your piece: tempo, subtext, motivation and more. You’ll work on three monologues over the session: one classical, one contemporary, and one that you write for yourself. You’ll video your work as you go along, building a permanent record of your monologues as you rehearse them, and we’ll piece our favourite performances into an online show to share with an audience at the end of the session.
