In our popular summer camps, kids can embrace their creativity through clay and other art materials in our fully equipped pottery studios. They’ll learn new skills, from sculpting to glazing, in a fun and inclusive environment. Each camp is taught by our experienced artist educators, who guide campers through the galleries to get inspired by the incredible objects on display.
Clay with Food:
Create something that looks good enough to eat! Campers will explore the connections between food and pottery in our galleries, discovering objects like an ancient vessel for drinking chocolate and a 250-year-old ceramic pug dog for decorating a dessert table, before using clay and other materials to recreate and reimagine their favourite sweet and savoury treats.
Dates: July 10 - 14 or August 8 - 11
The Nature of Clay:
Get creative with clay and the environment! Campers will explore the galleries to discover images of nature, like a vessel depicting spring in Nunavut and a serving dish in the form of a hungry rabbit, before using clay and other materials to make original artworks in the studio inspired by the world around them.
Dates: July 17 - 21 or August 14 - 18
Clay Creatures:
Let your imagination run wild! Campers will journey into the galleries to meet some of the real and mythical creatures in our collection, like a 400-year-old Chinese dragon and an ancient Peruvian musical parrot, before using clay and other materials to make their own imaginary beasts in the studio.
