Debate

LinkedKey Debate provides competitive debate training in three different formats: BP (British Parliamentary), 
WSS (World School Style) and US Policy Debate. 

Learning to Debate and Public Speak reaps life-long benefits, developing excellent oral and written communication skills, effective tools for research, organization and presentation, strategies to overcome fears of public speaking, and discovering the confidence and desire to participate in all academic classes.

Our instructors are seasoned debaters themselves; collectively, they have debated at hundreds of internationally-renowned tournaments all over the world. They have competed against some of the best debaters of their time and are now passionate in delivering a comprehensive and engaging curriculum to students all across Ontario. As a school, our goal starts and ends with providing students with insightful and eye-opening experiences so that they can pursue their own passions and dreams in the future.

Debate learning Path at LinkedKey

• Level 1:This level is for students that are new to debating. Students need to learn the fundamentals necessary to compete at tournaments and progress to our other levels. If a student takes this level, we should expect them to be able to offer 2-3 minute speeches comfortably and have a basic understanding of the fundamentals by the end of a 16 class term.
  
  
• Level 2:This level is for students that have some exposure to debating but are still mastering the fundamentals. Students need to learn the fundamentals necessary to compete at tournaments, grow their confidence and practice debating regularly to progress to our other levels.
  
  
• Level 3:Students will begin to focus more on content, news and some advanced strategy, and will continue practicing on a regular basis with more difficult subjects and motions. To advance from this level, students will be expected to speak for 5 minutes regularly and have a good handle on speech roles, structure and debate content.
  
  
• Level 4:This level is for students that have a strong grasp of argumentation, debate formats and style that are looking to perfect their debating and will be preparing for tournaments. To advance from this level, students will be expected to speak for 5 minutes without issue, have debate tournament experience and give compelling speeches on a regular basis.
  
  
• Level 4 adv:This level is for students that have an excellent grasp of argumentation, debate formats and style that are looking to master their debating and will be preparing for tournaments. Advancements will happen on a case-by-case basis, but as a baseline, students should not expect to advance from level 4Adv after only one semester.
  
  
• Level 5: This level is the highest level BP rules level at LinkedKey. The students that have a superior grasp of argumentation, debate formats and style that are looking to perfect their debating, compete against excellent students and prepare for tournaments.

In-Person and/or Online

Debate WSS course provide visual and in person course in Totonto and Zoom. For GTA students who wish to attend class at  Mississaugua Campus and Marham Campus. All other students (both within ON and around the world) may continue with virtual lessons via Zoom.
