The purpose of High School Model United Nations (MUN) is to increase your knowledge about international issues, policy making and the activities of the United Nations. You will gain valuable skills in public speaking, research and writing, negotiation and powers of persuasion, leadership, organization, and interpersonal communication.
Students will gain these skills through course assignments, activities and, most importantly, by playing the role of United Nations delegates at MUN conferences. You will have the opportunity to represent LinkedKey as a MUN delegate at various Model UN conferences.
The world is increasingly complex. Difficult problems require innovative solutions. The students of today need a multi-disciplinary training and view to be the problem solvers of the future. In this program, students will be introduced to Economics, Politics, Business, International Trade agreements, World History, Law, Social Sciences, Military History, Ethics, and Logic. Each 2 hour class will be 1 hour of teaching content and 1 hour practice Model UN debate where they can practice the newly learned materials. by the end of the course students will have a broad view of many forces that shape our world from the past, present and into the future.
Model UN learning Path at LinkedKey
- Level 1
This is a beginner class that introduces students with the rules, role and responsibilities of the Model UN and students will gain basic skills in public speaking, research and writing, negotiation and powers of persuasion, leadership, organization, and interpersonal communication. The student could participate General Assemblies commitee in MUN Conference.
- Level 2
This is an intermediate class of Model UN. Upon completing the Level 1 class, students will continue to build knowledge in economics, politics, business, international trade, world history, law, sociology, military history, ethics and logic. The student could participate General Assemblies commitee in MUN Conference.
- Level 3 and 4
The student could participate crisis commitee in MUN Conference.
In-Person and/or Online
Model UN course provide visual and in person course in Totonto and Zoom. For GTA students who wish to attend class at Mississaugua Campus and Marham Campus. All other students (both within ON and around the world) may continue with virtual lessons via Zoom.
