Course Intro

1. English Literature Course

This course is designed to cultivate students' positive literary appreciation and literary accomplishment. We will help kids preview the required content of Ontario students in grades 4-12, such as Shakespeare's literary works (novels and poems) as the course reading materials, which will effectively improve their English literature skills and build confidence.  According to the learning characteristics of students in different grades, they will complete vocabulary expansion, knowledge expansion, grammar training and literary structure analysis to build students' literary knowledge structure.

  • English Literature 1(G4)(In Person)
    You will learn how to write clearly and understand a story. In addition to teaching reading and writing skills, we hope that this course instils a passion for English by making the subject more accessible to you.
  • English Literature 1(G5-6)(In Person)
    An exploration into the fundamentals of persuasive writing and literary analysis. Students will learn how to assess a story and express their ideas in coherent paragraphs.
  • English Literature 2(G7-8)(In Person)
    Preparation for high-school level English by exposing students to poetry and Shakespearean plays. Students will learn how to write articulate essays by analyzing commonly used high-school novels and supporting their ideas with compelling examples.
  • Essay & ENG G9 (ENG1D) (In Person)
    Students will learn how to deconstruct stories using literary analysis, a skill which will advance how you interpret texts and write essays. You will receive more exposure to challenging texts, through which you will learn how to write more compelling essays and captivating stories.
  • Essay & ENG G10 (ENG2D) (Online)
    A continuation of exposure to literature with an added emphasis on clear writing and reading/media comprehension to prepare for the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT).
  • Essay & ENG G11 (ENG3U) (Online)
    Students will learn how to formulate and express ideas in a short span of time to prepare their for in-class tests and presentations. The numerous texts in this course will expose students to a useful sample of styles and topics which are common to many advanced high school texts.
  • Essay & ENG G12 (ENG4U) (Online) 
    You will learn about familiar topics, such as essay writing and literary analysis, in much more depth and from the lens of renowned literary works. Along the way, you will learn several others approaches to deconstructing a story and composing your own.
  • Unlock ESL (Online)

IB English and Essay Writing(G11-12)
An advanced exploration of how to deconstruct novels, poems, and plays with an emphasis on commonly taught literature in The International Baccalaureate (IB). Students will be taught to describe their analysis in several essay styles (i.e. pro-con essay, written commentary, interactive oral commentary, and reflective statement)

    • Improve students' Essay Writing skills and course grades in preparation for university admission.

About Homework: Tests, answer questions and other forms of assessment will also be arranged in the class to examine students' understanding and completion of reading content or writing assignments in class and after class. Supervise and promote students' understanding and participation.
