This first aid leadership camp is for youth ages 13-17. If your teen is interested in learning first aid, enjoys the field of medical science and wants to take their leadership skills to the next level they will love the opportunity to embark on a journey like no other.
The first aid component of FALCON will cover all of the topics found in a traditional Red Cross standard first aid and CPR course. The leadership component of the camp will have teens learning about themselves, and their leadership styles. They will work in small groups and a larger group to build communication skills, engage in team building activities and role play mock first aid simulations to build their first aid skills, confidence and self-esteem.
The week will present challenges and the FALCON program is designed to teach youth to be prepared to handle not just medical emergencies but every day challenges they will face in life making them better leaders at home, at school and in their communities.
New for 2023 we will be adding a healthcare careers component. There are many more healthcare careers available that youth may not be familiar with. If they know they are interested in health and the human body, we'll help introduce them to some very cool healthcare professions! This year we have partnered with Future Reach Education who will help us navigate how to reach those career goals.
Just as we did in 2022, FALCONs will be offered the opportunity to observe the specimen dissection demonstrations that are part of the Medics Camp traditional camps for younger kids. Last summer we had a cow heart as part of Discover theme, sheep brain and kidney as part of our Explore theme.
Graduates of FALCON may be eligible for future volunteer and employment opportunities with Medics Camp once they complete their standard first aid and CPR certification with us. Last summer we had over 80 teens graduate from our program and we invited back 12 of those amazing leaders to join our team this year. What was really heart warming was that many of them are returning with friends they met during their camp week with us and they have kept in touch ever since. We believe camp should be about learning, growing and making friends and for teens this first aid leadership camp is designed just for them.
Note: There are only 16 spaces in FALCON each week to allow for personalized skills development and they are filling up fast.
