PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Start them off young! Just like finding their favourite sport, hobby, or talent - your children deserve the chance to find a passion in coding. We will do our best to help them find that passion in this program.

To start, we introduce them to the world of coding through block coding in Scratch. Here, they will learn fundamental knowledge about coding structures and methodologies that will set them up for success in the future. We then move on to project-based learning, where they will use the fundamentals they learned to create complete projects like games, stories, and more. After that, we look at more complicated coding methodologies while learning to draw the most fantastic shapes and drawings. 

After becoming pros in block coding, students will start their script coding by learning JavaScript. Here the focus is on creating web-based animations and games. Lastly, students will combine all their knowledge and start to learn the basics of mobile app development with App Lab. This will teach them what coding in the real world looks like and how the apps they use daily are made!

This program is split into five sections:

1. Block Fundamentals 
2. Games & Projects
3. Advanced Drawings
4. Interactive JavaScript 
5. Mobile App Dev

After each section, there will be class-guided projects to assess the class's progress. At this point, each student will be given feedback and accomplishments on their mycodeclub.io accounts for parents to track progress.

This program aims to explore as much of the coding world as possible for children 7-11 years old. We want to inspire them on this journey while learning about coding in new, fun, and creative ways. This gives us the best shot at encouraging them to continue their journey in coding and become innovators rather than just consumers.

Kids need to bring their own laptop to the in-person classes.

Who can register for this Program?

• Any child over 7-11 years-old
• A little experience in coding with blocks is preferred but not required

How is the payment processed?

Payments will be auto-re-newed on the first of every month, depending on the number of classes. Using the month of January as an example, you will be charged $100 on January 1st, for the entirety of January 2022 because there are four classes in January ($25/per class).

There is a onetime $50 registration fee will be added to the first payment.
