2021 - A Remarkable Year in the Making

It’s inspiring seeing the perseverance and resilience of young people in our communities. The challenges of the day have been met time and time again by strong families and bright students focused on what matters most in their lives.

I congratulate you, parents, siblings, Enrichment Studies participants past and present, family members and friends on your inspiring effort to see these challenging times through to the end. You all have grown with the the strength you’ve built and found over the past year.

ESU has grown and changed, too. We welcomed our first 200 students to our online program, Enrichment Online. With seven courses delivered over the summer, we are planning for expanded online offerings during the school year and on school breaks. 2021 looks bright. We are hoping to welcome students in person this coming summer but we understand the challenges ahead.

We’ve introduced a registration and programming schedule unique to 2021. We have moved our spring enrichment programs that would take place during the elementary and secondary school year to the summer. This gives even more time for the realities of the pandemic’s affect on our operations to become clear. With more time, comes more opportunity for the Queen’s University leadership team to deem our campus environment ready to welcome secondary and elementary students into the community. Included in this plan is a virtual program taking place the same weeks our in-person programs would run.

This means if you register for an in-person program and it turns out that the program cannot safely run, there will be a corresponding virtual Queen’s University experience and virtual learning waiting for our eager students that same week.

The unique and empowering experiences of being on campus and learning within the Queen’s community in these programs can be life-changing and we will do all we can to keep these virtual experiences true to that goal.

We invite you to explore the ESU Our Kids profile to learn more about Enrichment Studies program plans and new initiatives.

Our hope is to make this coming year one of our best for our community and our students.

With sincere thanks and excitement,

Morgan Davis,
Manager, Enrichment Studies
