This weekend, the International Junior Golf Tour (IJGT) hosted the Georgia Open at Savannah Quarters where two IJGA students were victorious over the competition. IJGA Class of 2017 members Saptak Talwar and Angela Wang (Wint Phoo Nadi Aung) won the Boys 15-19 Division and the Girls Division respectively.
Saptak Talwar, of New Delhi, India, celebrated his first win on Sunday at Savannah Quarters in Pooler. He shot two rounds of 73 to win by one stroke. His total score for the weekend was 146, 2-over par. Talwar has been a student at IJGA since June 2015.
Angela Wang comes to IJGA from Yangon, Myanmar, and has been training at the Academy since 2015 as well. Angela shot 74 in her first round and then came back with a 73 to win on Sunday. Angela won the Girls Division by two strokes and totaled 3-over par for the tournament.
For the two seniors, this win comes on the heels of Early Signing period for NCAA Division I Golf. Angela has verbally committed to play golf for Indiana University, Saptak is currently uncommitted but considering a number of universities.
