Prestige School’s Reader’s Retreat is a one-week course with sixty-minute classes each of the five days. The focus of our Reader’s Retreat course is to teach accurate decoding and text fluency, vocabulary knowledge, and comprehension mastery. Our instructor will delve into thinking and reasoning skills such as drawing inferences and help develop within your child the motivation to learn and apply information. Additionally, students will learn to draw on prior knowledge and experience to help them understand what they are reading and to monitor their understanding, adjust their reading speed to fit the difficulty of the text, and address any comprehension problems they have. Students will also be taught the ability to form mental pictures, or images, as they read and to summarize and determine what is important in the text by identifying main ideas orally and/or in writing and weeding out unnecessary information.
