The Keno delegation did not return empty-handed from the last Quebec Camp Association (ACQ) Awards of Excellence gala, held on November 14 at Château Mont Sainte-Anne. Kéno was indeed rewarded by the jury and thus received the 2018 Award of Excellence, in the Programming and Camp Life category, for its program À l'aventure avec Arthur.
Launched in 2018, À l'aventure avec Arthur is offered at the Keno summer camp and aims to facilitate the first camp experience for children aged 4 to 8. This 3-day program allows each registered child to invite their "favourite adult" to the camp for the duration of the stay. This program allows the child and his parent (or grandparent, or uncle, etc.) to live unforgettable moments together, and the parent to demystify a little bit what goes on in a summer camp, all this under the watchful eye of the Keno counsellors.
Developed in collaboration with Arthur the Adventurer and organized around a nature-friendly theme that aims to accentuate children's awareness on the beauties and benefits of nature, this trip was, from its first edition, a great success, attracting more than 60 chidlren and adultes. The multi-generational aspect of the program was a great asset for all participants, young and old, and it was this dimension that particularly caught the jury's attention. They recognized the innovative nature of this first multi-generational stay offered in a summer camp of Quebec.
Arthur and Keno are back in 2019, where the À l'aventure avec Arthur program will be offered once again. In a 3-day stay formula, the program will be presented on two different dates: one in late June and one in early July.
