Join fellow 2SLGBTQ+ youth to explore the epic Rocky Mountains!
This backpacking adventure will take you alongside rivers, over mountain passes, through alpine meadows, and you may even see a rainbow or two along the way! After a long day full of activity, debrief with other 2SLGBTQ+ peers while sitting around a campfire under the stars. Your instructors will help create a supportive space to learn technical and personal skills to help you thrive in your community, school, and workplace. This unique course will unlock your true potential and help you realize that you are capable of more than you think.
AREA & ACTIVITIES
This adventure travels through Treaty 7 Land, the traditional territories of Niitsitapi (the Siksika, Piikani, Kainai), the Îyârhe Nakoda, and Tsuut’ina Nations, as well as the traditional unceded territory of the Ktunaxa Nation and Métis Region 3.
The course begins with getting to know your team members and an introduction to backcountry living. Experienced instructors will teach you everything you need to know for your adventure, including how to pack an expedition backpack, stove use, shelter building, personal hygiene, minimal impact camping, and how to travel over various terrain both on and off-trail. By the end of the course, you will make decisions with minimal input from instructors. Your supportive instructors will also help you become more confident and reflect on the skills you have developed.
