Join your fellow 2SLGBTQ+ youth to explore the West Coast wilderness!
This sea kayaking adventure will take you through ocean waves and along the shores of ancient rainforests. In the evenings, after a day full of adventure, you will debrief the day sitting around a campfire. Your talented and compassionate instructors will help create a supportive space to learn technical and personal skills to help you thrive in your community, school, and workplace. This unique course will unlock your true potential and help you realize that you are capable of more than you think.
AREA & ACTIVITIES
This journey takes place in Clayoquot Sound, on the edge of the Pacific Rim National Park, the traditional territory of three Nuu-chah-nulth Nations: the Ahousaht, the Hesquiaht and Tla-o-qui-aht.
Sea kayaking: You will travel in either solo or tandem fibreglass sea kayaks through class 2 water as outlined by the Sea Kayak Guides Alliance of B.C. During the expedition, your instructors will teach you paddling strokes, self and assisted rescue techniques, plus basic nautical navigation, including understanding tides, currents and weather.
