Connections Engineering Outreach and the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science are offering this GIRLS ONLY session of QSEA as a commitment to removing barriers for women and girls in science, and engaging and inspiring a love of curious thought about the world around us.
This program presents students with an overview of engineering using age-appropriate, and thought-provoking projects to inform and engage students without being technically overwhelming. Participants will work with female instructors as they participate in activities that promote collaboration, leadership, communication, creativity, and critical thinking. To register for the course, families will be asked to pay a holding deposit, that will be fully refunded after participating in the course.

Engineering our Current Cities (Currently in Grades 3 and 4) - July 18 - 22
Course Description: Does your child love to dream up inventive new cities and urban landscapes? Or perhaps they enjoy constructing hands-on projects? If so, this course is the perfect program to help your child utilize 3D/virtual reality programs and introductory coding to bring their imagination to life!
Engineering our Environment (Currently in Grades 3 and 4) - July 25 - 29
Course Description: This session will introduce a variety of engineering disciplines from an eco-conscious perspective to help your child grow their creative problem-solving skills! Participants will be guided through a variety of hands-on engineering activities and engaging coding to spark a budding passion for STEM in your child!
Girls in Space (Currently in Grades 5 and 6) - July 11 - 15
Course Description: During this session participants will launch into a variety of engineering disciplines, with a special focus on the contributions by women in STEM who have helped humankind reach the stars! Participants will be challenged with space mission and simulators through engaging online virtual reality and coding programs.
Coding a Healthy Life (Currently in Grades 5 and 6) - August 8 - 12
Course Description: This session will take a look at engineering solutions to support every day life including mental health and active living. Participants will be guided through a variety of hands-on engineering activities aimed at highlighting the emerging use of technology in healthcare fields.
