This camp is designed to build the following character traits:

  • Curiosity: The QSEA senior program is designed to provide learning experiences for high school students to explore their curiosity towards the field of engineering. With this curiosity, students will be able to make informed choices about engineering as a post-secondary educational career choice.
  • Creativity: The QSEA senior program is committed to providing hands-on learning opportunities for high school students to use their creativity in designing and testing engineering models of their own.

On behalf of the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science at Queen’s University, we would like to introduce you to Connections: Queen's Summer Engineering Academy (QSEA) Senior. This non-credit experiential education program offers engineering focused courses for students currently in grades 9-11 (going into Grade 10 - 12 in Sept 2024). The courses provide an overview of Engineering in a university setting and caters to Canadian high school students.

QSEA Senior is available in both one-week and multiple-week versions as there are multiple different courses to choose from within July and August of 2024 for a total of 5 weeks. 

Please find more information about our course offerings below:

Course A: Engineering Innovative Pathways
Course Description: Technology continues to improve and become increasingly more important in our society. In this course, participants will explore the impact of engineering and technology on our world and how they can be used in tandem to improve productivity, safety, and accessibility. Participants will have the opportunity to design and create their own autonomous vehicles and explore Queen’s research and robotics facilities. 

Engineering Disciplines Explored: Mechatronics and Robotics, Electrical and Computer, Mechanical






Course B: Engineering the Human Potential 
Course Description: Engineering designs are improving the lives and health of people each day and will continue to aid in medical and accessibility practices. Through problem-based learning, participants will explore the role of engineering in healthcare and accessible design. Participants will have the opportunity to implement the engineering design process to design and create unique solutions to real world challenges people face daily.

Engineering Disciplines Explored: Chemical, Biomedical, Computer







Course C: Engineering Fundamentals
Course Description: Engineering is a vast field of study with so many opportunities to improve the world we live in. Through experiential learning, participants will have the opportunity to interact with several different disciplines of engineering offered at Queen’s. Participants will apply their problem-solving and critical thinking skills to hands-on workshops and have the opportunity to visit campus laboratories and interact with Queen’s students and faculty.
