“Adventure camp this year was incredible. So many kids broke out of their shells and opened up in incredible ways. It was exciting to see some of these kids share about how they heard God tell them He loves them directly, that they feel called to share Gods love to anyone they meet, and that despite all the hurt they have been through, their desire is to help others. Adventure camp is always a good time to slow down and really appreciate God and the little things. Like in the hatching of new baby birds that excite our campers.”
Over the span of this last year I had been struggling with my identity. I knew my identity should be in Christ, but I didn't truly believe it in my heart. Last week during horsemanship camp we talked about our identity in Jesus and how to find it. It got me thinking about how I could go about embracing my identity as a child of God but I didn't know how. During the junior high camp sunset service, the speaker talked about how we have to choose, to accept that our identity is in Jesus. I realized that I had been waiting for some sort of sign when the truth of His word was right there all along. I fell to my knees and just cried. I was so tired of my identity being my loneliness and anxiety and I felt such relief and warmth knowing that that's not who I am. I am a child of God.
