Described as a “symphonic fairy tale for children”, this masterpiece written by Russian composer Sergei Prokofiev in 1936 continues to capture the imagination of listeners worldwide, from young audiences to artists and filmmakers.
In this half-day camp, musical and crafting activities will be built around the story of Peter and the Wolf. You’ll learn about instruments in the symphony orchestra and how they each play a unique part in telling the story and illustrating its characters.
Each day you’ll practice musicianship skills like rhythm, tempo, pitch, dynamics, vocal exercises, and even composition. There will be daily movement and game activities, followed by crafts to build your own puppet theatre and puppets.
The week will end with a live puppet show performance of Peter and the Wolf and an opportunity to showcase your new musical skills!
NOTE: Craft templates will be supplied digitally for printing at your home or a local print shop. Templates can be mailed to you for an additional fee of $20 to cover shipping (opt in and pay at registration) but must be ordered no later Wednesday, March 31, 2021. Orders placed after March 31 will not be accommodated.
