10 week half-day program (Saturday or Sunday)
January 16/17, 2021 - March 27/28, 2021
Orientation: January 9/10, 2021
We are pleased to announce that in partnership with the University of Toronto eSports we are continuing to deliver a our Saturday/Sunday half-day online Minecraft program for Winter 2021.
Daniels Minecraft programme uses your participant’s love of Minecraft to explore the fundamentals of design and architecture, while building teamwork and communication skills. The Daniels Minecraft Winter programming will be streamed into two levels, Level 1: Architecture and Building & Level 2: World Building & Game Design.
Both levels allow participants to be online alongside mentors working on activities that are collaborative, creative, and conducive to building problem-solving skills. Participants will develop the fundamentals of visual thinking, urban planning, gaming and environmental planning while creating their own levels, worlds, games and elaborate environments in Minecraft. Participants will play some classic Minecraft games liked bed wars, hunger games and spleef to learn about the gamification of the biomes with their teams. We will have 5 participants with 1 leader.
Who?
This Winter program is designed for all participants aged 8 to 14 (grades 3 to 8) who are interested in design, technology, art, science, and engineering. Ages will be grouped (8-10 and 11-14).
Why?
Minecraft is not only a game but a powerful design tool. This program fosters design skills and collaboration with group work through both Minecraft and other digital platforms.
Where?
This program will be delivered online through a variety of platforms including: Minecraft and zoom.
Technology
To participate in our Minecraft Programming, you will need Zoom and the Minecraft Java Edition to access our Minecraft server.
Zoom
We will be using Zoom as our main platform. The platform allows us to be all together and work in our smaller groups of 5 participants. It is important for every participant to have access to a computer with relatively stable internet, and a microphone. Though a webcam is not strictly necessary, it will help to keep everyone engaged and see eachother.
Minecraft
To participate in our program you will need the Java Edition of Minecraft. Other versions are not compatible with our server.
Minecraft Server
We will be running our camp on U of T E-sports Minecraft server.
