This program is designed to build the following character traits:

  • Physicality: Artistic swimming is described as the "everything" sport as it combines skills from a range of disciplines, including gymnastics and dance. Athletes develop strength, flexibility, coordination, and of course, swimming skills through the program.
  • Creativity: Swimmers learn to express a routine's artistic theme through movement and expression. As swimmers progress through the program, they will have the opportunity to learn a complete routine and develop choreography.

TASC's Porpoise Recreational program is located at Holland-Bloorview, 150 Kilgour Rd, East York. Classes are from 5:30 - 6:30 pm every Sunday. The capacity for each class is 4 swimmers.

There are two sessions of ~15 weeks each:

  • September - January
  • February - May

The cost for each session is $410. Register for one or both!

TASC's Porpoise Recreational program is ideal for girls and boys 5 - 7 years old, who love the water and want to learn fun artistic swimming skills in a team environment as they develop swim skills and increase their strength, endurance and level of flexibility.

Program levels and then teams are based on age, experience and skill levels according to the national, Canadian Artistic Swimming (CAS) AquaGO skill development program and LTAD (Long Term Athlete Development) program like other sports. Swimmers progress through the levels as they develop more challenging artistic swimming skills.

All Recreational programs focus on 5 key areas:

  • Swimming Fundamentals
  • Artistic Swimming Skills
  • Athletic Abilities/Physical Literacy
  • Flexibility
  • Routine performance and teamwork

All swimmers will have the opportunity to swim in a mermaid or shark tail and all programs except our new Mini-session will participate in one or both of our Club Watershows (Dec and June).
