Introduction to Glowforge: Students will learn about laser cutting and how to operate a Glowforge laster cutter safely. They will etch and cut a personalized name tag.
Introduction to Inkscape: Laser cutting requires specially programmed and designed files in order to operate. Students will learn how to create images and tell the laser cutter how to make their designs a reality.
Double Sided Designs: Laser cutting and engraving doesn’t just happen on single-sided objects. Students will learn about rigging their own jigs and create their own double sided tokens.
Boxes and Cubes: Flat, 2D designs are not the only thing laser cutters are capable of cutting. Students will learn how to think a little bit more outside the box by creating their own laser cut dice. They will produce the necessary flat pieces before assembling them into a 3D form.
3D Puzzles: Taking the previous class one step further, students will design and cut out their own 3D puzzles by taking a series of 2D pieces and interlocking them into a 3D form.
Laser Cutting Workshop: Students a chance to use the laster cutter to try cutting some of their own designs with the guidance and support from instructors.
