Century began its life in 1994 when Sybil Taylor founded the Montessori school. The program has grown considerably since then, and in a variety of ways, most notably with the development of the high school program. The school is housed within a heritage building that provides a welcome sense of place and purpose. While the middle and high school programs perhaps venture away from the core of the Montessori method, they nevertheless retain a sense of community, hands-on learning, and peer support. Particularly popular in the younger grades (preschool to elementary), but sometimes available all the way up to high school, Montessori schools offer an alternative vision to the standard lesson format of most classrooms.
