View full reportMetro Prep, in once sense at least, is very much what you might think a preparatory academy is for: the program is intended to prepare students for post-secondary education, particularly university. From there, however, all bets are off, and the school adopts none of the cliches or the stances that are hallmarks of the traditional, stereotypical prep school. The students don't wear uniforms, for one, the intention being to encourage individuality rather than conformity. Likewise, while the school intends student success, it's not defined in test scores, but by a creative engagement with the curricular content, and the world. Confidence over bravado; critical thinking over rote learning – in so many ways, this isn't your grandfathers' prep school. The ideal student is one who can thrive in a very active, engaging student environment, and intending to continue their studies at university.

I am forever bursting with gratification over what our students and faculty are able to achieve. The multitude of accomplishments are varied and far-reaching, and make our school environment exciting, rewarding, engaging, and satisfying. Fine arts is an important part of our curriculum.
At Metropolitan Preparatory Academy, the Fine Arts are both a creative outlet and an academic pursuit. Through our flagship SMITH Program—dedicated to storytelling, media, innovation, theatre, and the humanities—students engage in a rich exploration of both artistic appreciation and creation. Academic-based preschools and Kindergartens are the most structured of the different types, and have a strong emphasis on math and reading readiness skills. At Metropolitan Preparatory Academy, admissions is a selective but welcoming process focused on finding the right match between each student and our community. Families begin by submitting a full application online at www.metroprep.com/apply. Once received, we invite applicants for an in-person interview, where we review recent report cards and have meaningful conversations to understand the student's strengths, character, aspirations, and potential.
The interview is the most important step. It allows us to get to know the student and family personally and assess whether MetroPrep’s environment—built on academic excellence, mentorship, and personal growth—will be the right fit for their journey. We are looking for students who are motivated, open-minded, respectful, and ready to work toward becoming the best version of themselves.
