Believing that a child’s first learning years are the most important, in 1947 The Priory School’s Founding Mothers, Frances Ballantyne and Alphonsine Paré-Howlett, succeeded in developing a school far ahead of its time. Progressive (sometimes called "in- quiry-based") curricula attempt to place children's interests and ideas at the heart of the learning experience.
