Calgary Changemaker School Reviews
Our Perspective on Calgary Changemaker School
While still young, Kristina Kraychy has an extensive resume, including tenure at West Island College, Westmount Charter School, and as a key driver behind Calgary’s first outdoor, nature kindergarten program. She’s also a graduate of the University of Calgary, and an affiliate teacher with the Royal Conservatory of Music. That’s a lot, all of which she’s brought to the founding Changemaker School. While not an accrediting body, the concept of Changemaker schools is gaining attention, with schools around the world adopting the model, including notably the Mabin School in Toronto, long a leader in education in Canada. Academics are rigorous, though inflected through some key values, in particular empathetic engagement and ethical leadership. A focus, too, on outdoor education, learning in nature, is rightly a draw for the families that enrol here. While the school may be new, the concepts behind it are proven. The instructors, too, make it an important school within the private school landscape, in Calgary and beyond.
