What curriculum do private and independent schools follow?

Expert Answer

Education is a provincial or territorial responsibility in Canada, and requirements are not consistent across the country and, in some regions, vary among grade levels. Where students are expected to graduate with specified credits for a diploma or certificate or as a pre-requisite for post-secondary studies, schools are guided by the required provincial or territorial curriculum. Some private school may enhance the core curriculum with courses or approaches that reflect the mission and principles of the school. For example, a faith-based school or one with a strong outdoor education commitment may offer a distinctive, integrated curriculum that incorporates that vision.
