What does Montessori mean?
The term "Montessori" refers to an applied method of teaching that began in 1907 in Italy. Named after its founder, Dr. Maria Montessori, this teaching practice focuses on the belief that a child is the centre of their own learning — growing and exposing their true potential through challenging experiences versus teacher-lectured study.

Our 7 year old son has just been diagnosed with Dyslexia. We are considering a couple of schools recommended to us for him. We would also like to find a school suitable for our 10 year old daughter starting September 2010, one that would, hopefully be suitable for our son in future years when and if he is able to go "mainstream". I guess what we are looking for is a school that accommodates for students with dyslexia in their high school years (or before).
Will we be able to get more information from the school's reps? Could we also talk with other current parents that are already enrolled? Do we get a schedule of the school's daily activities/reports annually or semi-annually? Do our children(s) get assistance with homework? Do they need to be potty trained? Do they get nap times?
