I like that the JK's are engaged in all areas of academics, including french, music, gym, and computer use. While their age is being taken into account, their intelligence is not undermined, and they are being given a great academic foundation, which will help as they advance. With the pandemic this year, Mrs Blanken and Mrs Laidman have both had a significant online presence for the students, which helps them maintain some sort of academic fluidity, in this difficult times. Mrs Blanken gives a good array of academic activities, but has also hosted dance parties, costume parties, and virtual field trips, all of which the kids seem to love. She also has one to one meetings with each child, to ensure that they're not being left behind.
Glenn Arbour Academy has in class technology and a fantastic teacher to student ratio which helps children retain information at a much faster speed. The academic program focuses on developing inquiring, knowledgeable and well-rounded individuals. They encourage students to think independently, take risks and care about each other and their community. There is a strong emphasis on developing a solid foundation on math and language for the students and also incorporating a stimulating hands-on learning experience in science, arts and physical education. The academic program is challenging, but the teachers work closely with the students to develop their confidence so that they can be successful. They are also encouraged to learn and maintain good work and study habits in the junior grades so that they can manage as the learning material and workload becomes more complex at the senior level. It is such a wonderful feeling to have your children come home from school talking about how much fun they had and what they have learned that day.
