Lynn Rose actively encourages parents to be involved in the school. The school puts on various annual functions throughout the year, and welcome families to attend, such as French cafe, (which exhibits the school's French and music program), the annual winter concert, the Music and Art gallery as well as a fantastic spring theatre production. There are also various fundraisers and initiatives for the students to give back to the community. For example the annual Terry Fox run, "We Scare Hunger" campaign during Halloween and school spirit days to support the "Free the Children/WE charity". I think it's great that in addition to participating in these campaigns, they also learn about the background of the campaign and why they are important. For example for the Terry Fox run, both my sons who still in the junior grades, were inspired to learn about Terry Fox's life and how he founded his Marathon of Hope.
As parents we have had a great experience at Lynn-Rose Heights. Parents are encouraged to be involved. The doors of the administration and leadership personnel are always open to the students and the parents. They make themselves available whenever we have asked. Even if it is just a quick question. The staff will call or email the parents, always keeping the lines of communication open. The staff will always take a quick minute to say, "Hello" to the parents at pick up times or at any events the school has. We have had many opportunities to volunteer and join the school at fundraisers for local community food banks, shelters, school fundraisers, book fairs, family event dinner nights. It builds a school community, within a community. It has been amazing.
I think the level of parental involvement is appropriate and works for our family. We try to be very involved in our child's education plan and their experiences at school; so I am content with the level of interaction we currently have. Parents are always encouraged to be involved at all levels. The faculty is always available and open to suggestions and ideas and are great with the same as it applies to your children. They are always looking for ways to improve the experience at Lynn Rose not only for the students but for the parents as well. We really appreciate the contact we have directly with the school. The principle and vice principle always make time for the parents and are involved at all levels.
LRH is always fundraising for local charities and giving back to the community. It also encourages the students to learn about their community and local charities. My daughter came home after a fundraiser and wanted to go through her toys and donate some to children in need!! They are always looking for parents to be involved with the school, volunteering for trips or giving ideas for ways to ensure every child has a positive learning environment!
