Construction is now complete on our new Music Hall. This 1200 square foot state of the art addition will be a wonderful enhancement to our instrumental music program. It also represents Phase Two of our Arts Renewal Plan, with the remodeling of our visual arts room having taken place in July 2018. The students were thrilled to begin the school year with access to their brand new visual arts room. Phase Three, the moving of our dramatic arts program to its new classroom space has also taken place.
Over the years, there has been tremendous interest in the arts at Turnbull School. The Turnbull School Band has participated in the Capital Region MusicFest, earning Silver and Gold Standards of Performance as well as several invitations to the prestigious National competition, MusicFest Canada.
Every year, students in Grades 5 to 8 have the opportunity to participate in a major theatrical production. In May, 2019, the Turnbull School Drama Troupe will perform Anne of Green Gables. Past productions have included: Robin Hood (2018), The Wizard of Oz (2017), Alice in Wonderland (2016), Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2015) and Jack and the Beanstalk (2014).
The school community is looking forward to further enhancing the music and drama programs through the use of these new classrooms.
