SEM's Model UN club made its first appearance at the 63d Annual Gannon University Model UN Conference, November 13 -14, 2015 in Erie, PA. SEM represented the nation of Germany and placed 2d overall. Two individual students Caroline '17 and Veronica '19 won "best delegate" awards for their work in their committees.
SEM has been practicing and preparing their position papers for this competition since August. Gannon's is the oldest consecutively run Model UN in the US. Earlier in the week,on November 10, the SEM team warmed up by attending the International Institute of Buffalo's Academic WorldQuest, a global knowledge quiz competition for high school students.
SEM will next go to the International Institute of Buffalo's Model UN in March 2016, at the University at Buffalo representing North Korea and Bhutan. SEM's Model UN club was founded by students in the senior class in the fall of 2012.
