Sorlandet launches A+ Academy and sets sail on a circumnavigation

Sorlandet (Norway) launches A+ Academy and sets sail on a circumnavigation

At school today you will probably be doing one of the following ....

  • inter-tidal environmental studies in the Amazon delta
  • learning to sail a ship
  • conducting anthropological studies on Easter Island
  • diving on the Great Barrier Reef in Australia
  • meeting leading business and political figures in China, Columbia or New Caledonia

Norwegian fully-rigged tall ship Sorlandet has launched an initiative that will see it take 60 high-achieving students on a voyage of 50,000 nautical miles across seven continents, stopping at 40 ports. The trip promises hands-on learning and premium high school courses in a tall ship environment for students who come from 20 different countries.  The education-focused circumnavigation will take two years to complete.

"An increasingly competitive jobs market looks for young graduates with value-added skills and strong values. Discipline, responsibility, initiative, honesty and compassion are not just honed but demanded in this schoolhouse. They are the hallmarks of our crew and they become, irrevocably, lifelong behavioural companions."
