The teachers and the Director (Kelly) really care about the children, recognizing they are all different and have different learning styles. They use positive reinforcement with children and understand that not all learning comes from a textbook. We receive regular updates from Oak about our child's progress and when discipline is contemplated, they contact us to keep us in the loop. With children who may have special needs, Oak Learners provides an inclusive environment and works with children and families to tailor individualized plans in small class sizes. A child with special needs will flourish in this environment because they are accepted. You do not have to worry about bullying and large classroom sizes in public schools.

The school leadership is the most responsive we have ever seen. They are open to frequent communication, and willing to spend the time beyond just the regular parent/teacher meetings. They are very receptive to utilizing specific individual behavioural management techniques that have been proven effective at home and adopting them wholeheartedly in the school environment. When discipline issues arise, they are fair and thoughtful in their reactions and ensure that our son knows that he is valued and loved and that the staff will work with him to help him better manage his behaviour in future. The leadership /principal takes great care in the quality of the staff she hires to ensure that everyone is well aligned to this firm but kind philosophy.

The school leadership is amazing. We have had some discipline issues with one of our kids, and they have all been dealt with respectfully, lovingly, and most importantly, with positivity and fairness. Issues were identified, plans and strategies developed and acted upon, consistently. This has also been the first school where our oldest continuously mentions that all students get treated the same way when issues come about; no one is singled out or made to feel bad or different. This aspect alone has led to tremendous progress, and we have found that behaviour issues we arrived with a few months ago have been eliminated altogether. The school leadership also has built an excellent team that works with all kids along the same lines, using a variety of research-based methods to help kids work through their challenges and overcome them. The atmosphere at school is always positive and energetic, and all of our concerns have been dealt with quickly and effectively.
