From my experience, the quality of student life at Oakville Christian School is top notch. The school is a wonderful community of teachers, students, parents and administrative staff. My girls really enjoy going to OCS. They have made lovely friends and adore their teachers. The teachers really are a big asset at OCS. They have many opportunities to learn new things given the great curriculum. French, music, art are all offered in the primary levels. The quality of life could be improved with smaller class sizes. More individual attention is always a good thing. OCS is not a boarding school and does not have a busing system therefore parents are always seen around. I think this is a very good thing. Parental involvement in a child's education enhances the child's experience.
My children thoroughly enjoy attending Oakville Christian School. The student life at Oakville Christian School is like being in a family environment, safe and happy, aspects that promote successful learning. The children are cared for and encouraged in all aspects of their school life; academic, spiritual and social, as if they are one big family. The children and parents are fully supported in their journey through Kindergarten to Grade 8 by the administration, teachers and governing body of the school. The students are encouraged and nurtured, instilling in them a sense of confidence in all that they can do and hope to achieve. For my son that has moved on to public high school, he now truly appreciates the opportunities that were offered to him and the high standard of care and education provided by the staff at Oakville Christian School.
My son has never been in love with going to school but once we transferred to OCS he goes to school everyday without any problems. He loves his teacher and the atmosphere in his classroom. He is given the opportunity to be a good leader and get recognized for doing good things. The school recognizes student for more than just academics. They strive to build well rounded students by calling out good qualities like helpfulness, patience, joyfulness, positivity and hard work and many other attributes of a well rounded person. The student life is very positive, poor behavior is identified and handled quickly in an appropriate manner. Both of my children love going to school and are very happy at OCS.
All of my children have enjoyed going to school at Oakville Christian School. They look forward to each day. They love their friends, teachers and all the exciting things that happen during the day. One of their favourite things that they enjoy during the year is an activity called "clusters". Clusters happen twice throughout the school year. The children are presented with different areas of interest to choose from then they are assigned a cluster group. The clusters include children from multiple grades working together on projects and activities. Examples of clusters that my children have participated in are circus, clay creation, lego, story writing, movie make-up and service trip. It is a great way for children to learn a new and different skill outside the curriculum, to build school spirit and foster relationships between other children within the school community. Overall, Oakville Christian School has been a loving a caring community that has made a meaningful impact on my children's life. I feel that they are loved and cared for in a way that is unique to this school. It is a pleasure to take my children to school each day knowing that they are in a safe environment. I feel confident that the school is giving my children the a wonderful education but more importantly helping to build character and values that will serve them well throughout their lifetime.
Our kids are typical kids who like to play and avoid work. Even so, getting off to school has never been a problem. They might say that they'd like a longer weekend and a shorter week, but they come home chatting a mile a minute about the adventures of their school day and then get restless over the weekend. I think they like going to school because they are embraced for who they are, but also because they are challenged to grow and mature. The staff seek to demonstrate Christ's selfless grace-filled love to our kids, and as a result our kids have thrived. I truly think that having Christ at the centre of all aspects of the school has made the difference in regards to the quality of life for the students.
My kids love going to OCS, mostly because of the teachers. After the teachers, they love recess (playing with friends) and all of the extra curricular activities that are available. The staff/teachers' commitment to living in harmony and modeling Christ-like behaviour creates an environment that the children thrive in. I feel that my children are not only taught to higher standards, but are loved and cared for in a way that does not exist in most schools. Even after moving to a higher grade, prior teachers continue to connect with their past students and invest into their lives through advice, teaching moments and encouraging words. The school strives to build strong Christian character in addition to equipping the children with a higher level of academic skills.
