I am thrilled with Waldorf and I do believe that they are developing well-rounded, kind, articulate, respectful and creative children. However, if there was one area of opportunities would be more after-school activities and team sports (non-competitive teams).

Yes, there are many different opportunities. There are a variety of sports - basketball, soccer, volleyball, etc. There are artistic opportunities - music, drama, etc. And there are many opportunities to explore nature. There's also lots of community service. In fact, it is a requirement in each grade. Plus, there is an annual camping trip that many of the parents across the school go on together. This is just scraping the surface - there's plenty of options!

Waldorf Academy definitely produces well-rounded students. As mentioned above, outdoor education, handwork, art, and music are emphasized as much as core academics. My son in grade school is encouraged to go deep in the areas that he enjoys AND to keep striving in the areas that he does not enjoy. To me, this is vitally important. Since my kids are still young (SK and grade three), I have not yet experienced the extracurricular sports side of the school. I do know, however, that there are competitive extracurricular sports offered for the upper grades.

As a smaller school, extracurriculars may not compare to large schools. However, there are ample opportunities in both sports and the arts to satisfy most. The school participates in competitive sports against other private schools. In addition, there are many arts programs (plays, musicals) during the year. There are also school trips and outdoor education (Pine) program throughout the year.
