The teachers at Waldorf are absolutely amazing. They are passionate, committed, dedicated. They love the children and believe in possibilities. They fully understand that every child is unique and develop in their own unique and special way. There is amazing support through the therapeutic teaching staff. Rudolf Steiner understood more than 100 years ago the connection between movement and development of the whole child. Waldorf continues to support this belief today that movement introduced at specific times in a child's development helps develop the brain and neural pathways conducive to learning and higher level thinking. The children play games and perform activities that support cross-lateral movements.

Our daughter has a wonderful bond with her teacher. Because the Waldorf methodology allows teachers to follow and teach their class over multiple years, teachers know their students deeply and teachers have the space to meet the student where they are at on their education journey.

The teachers are so committed and generous with their time. They treat the kids so lovingly, giving each- special, individualized care and coaching. Sometimes I am in disbelief of their dedication to our child and how much they seem to truly love him. And amidst their loving and gentle way, they also find a way to enforce the rules, to teach the children to be more independent, to handle difficult situations, and to practice new skills. I honestly couldn't imagine having our son anywhere else after seeing the way the school staff operates the Waldorf Academy. The teachers are so committed to their craft. Every week, they hold a teacher's circle where they talk about developmental concepts, the Waldorf philosophy, the challenges that they are facing in their own teaching. Many of the teachers have been at the school for decades. Our current teacher has served the school for more than 20 years. They are true believers in the philosophy of the school and you can see that in how they carry themselves, not just with the children but in every interaction.

I am very happy with the quality of instruction at Waldorf Academy. The teachers I have worked with have all been extremely knowledgeable and passionate about what they teach. They consistently go above and beyond to deliver their curriculum to each student. This has been particularly true during the COVID-19 pandemic, where the teachers have shown incredible flexibility in adapting their curriculum to remote learning. For example, in just a few days, the Practical Arts teacher delivered knitting project kits for all her students, delivered them to their homes, created a series of excellent knitting tutorial videos on YouTube, and now is watching the kids progress over Zoom. Fantastic! My children receive both the challenges and support they need to learn in a highly individualized and timely way. Case in point: my elder son was having difficulty reading to in Grade Two. His class teacher referred him to one of the Education Support teachers who identified that he was having problems with his eyes, including difficulties with tracking, accommodation, and laterality. The Education Support teacher referred us to a Developmental Optometrist (I had never heard of one before). The optometrist devised a series of eye exercises for my son. He did these exercises under the supervision of a vision therapist for five months. His eye problems have since resolved, and his reading and math skills have dramatically improved.

The teachers at Waldorf Academy go above and beyond. The main lesson teachers are 100 percent engaged in your child's academic life at Waldorf Academy. The Waldorf philosophy follows kids through the grades and that results in a very special teaching relationship with each student. The teacher knows the strengths and the challenges each student faces and is well-prepared to help them. The specialty teachers are carefully chosen to enhance the curriculum and though they can change from year to year they often do not and also develop a close relationship with each child throughout their time at the school. You will see these qualities reflected in the comprehensive reports cards that are produced twice a year along with midterm updates.
