Calling all female-identifying teens ready to take on a challenging adventure!
Join us on this exciting backpacking expedition to develop your leadership, teamwork and outdoor skills. Your group will support each other as you travel up steep inclines and learn to live out of a backpack. With the help of your instructors, the skills you learn in the backcountry can help you in school or at home.
You will leave the trail knowing you are capable of anything!
AREA & ACTIVITIES
This course travels through Ktunaxa Nation, Metis Region 3, and Treaty 7 Land: the traditional territories of the Siksika, Piikani, and Kainai Blackfoot Nations, the Iyarhe (Stoney) Nakoda, and Tsuut’ina Nations.
The course begins with getting to know your team members and an introduction to backcountry living. Experienced instructors will teach you everything you need to know for your adventure, including how to pack an expedition backpack, stove use, shelter building, personal hygiene, minimal impact camping, and how to travel over various terrain both on and off-trail. By the end of the course, you will make decisions with minimal input from instructors. Your supportive instructors will also help you become more confident and reflect on the skills you have developed.
