You’ll discover the joy of flatwater canoeing in these challenging waters while developing a range of social-emotional skills such as resilience and self-confidence that will serve you well in school, work, and life.
Be mesmerized by the awe-inspiring rocks, underwater crevices, and lichens that are unique to Ontario’s inland ocean. Every kilometer of this distinctive shoreline promises heart-pounding moments that will be etched in your memory forever.
This course is eligible for a high school credit, PAD4O Grade 12 Healthy Active Living. If you choose to take the course for credit, the coursework will be done through activities, group discussion and analysis, and daily journal reflections.
Area & activities
Georgian Bay in Ontario is a canoeing paradise with its range of water conditions, stunning islands and diverse wildlife. It’s ideal for paddlers of all levels, offering sheltered bays for beginners and open waters for those looking for a challenge. As you paddle through the pristine wilderness, you may encounter loons, otters and maybe even bald eagles. The tranquil setting and breathtaking sunsets make Georgian Bay a must-see for nature lovers and adventurers alike.
As you explore this magical place with your group, you’ll learn and improve your paddling techniques and rescue methods, and gain valuable skills such as map reading and navigation, camping knowledge, Leave No Trace ethics, and the art of teamwork and leadership.
Don’t worry about gear: we have everything you need for the expedition, and you can also borrow personal items from our gear library if needed. Be prepared for portages that require teamwork.
