All of these schools offer a student-centered approach, with self-directed learning, individualized instruction, and inquiry-based learning. Many of these schools are certified by a Montessori accrediting institute, such as the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI). And some have teachers trained at the Polish Montessori Institute (PMI).

Main features of Warsaw Montessori schools
Montessori schools in Warsaw provide a unique alternative to conventional education. Maria Montessori’s child-centred approach to learning is used in thousands of schools worldwide. Some of the main features of this approach are outlined below.
- Individualized curriculum: There is no pre-planned or one-size-fits-all curriculum. Instead children’s studies radiate from their core interests into all curricular areas.
- Decentralized learning: Teachers rarely lecture, and children do lots of self-directed work, mostly at their own pace.
- Concrete learning: There’s plenty of hands-on learning, especially at the lower levels (preschool (or kindergarten) and elementary school). At the higher levels, there is a movement towards more abstract learning.
- Multi-age classes: Children are usually placed in classes with three-year age groupings. For instance, many Montessori preschools or kindergartens in Warsaw have a toddler room for 0 to 3 year-olds and a Casa room for 3 to 6 year-olds. And elementary schools normally have two separate classes, one for 6 to 9 year-olds and one for 9 to 12 year-olds.
- Group work: Children often work together on different tasks and projects. Often, the older kids serve as leaders and mentors in this context.
- Character education: While academics are important, this is only part of the focus. Schools aim to educate the whole child: their character, sense of self, and values.
Warsaw Montessori school benefits
Montessori schools in Warsaw, Poland have plenty of benefits. Whether your child is a Polish resident or an international student, there are plenty of reasons for them to pursue a Montessori education.
- Hands-on learning: The focus on concrete, hands-on learning can lead to better focus and engagement. It can also lead to more efficient learning.
- Child-to-child teaching: Older children teach and mentor younger kids. This helps both master material and move through the curriculum more quickly
- Increased concentration: Recent research in neuroscience (Lillard, 2005) shows that uninterrupted work, an important Montessori principle, can boost children’s focus, concentration, and discipline. This can reap huge rewards down the line.
- Love of learning: Kids have lots of freedom to choose their own work. This can inspire a long-term love of learning, in and out of school.
