Types of Warsaw language schools
There are several different types of private schools in Warsaw, and all across Poland. This includes day, boarding, international, Montessori, social, and special needs schools.
Below, we describe the main types of Warsaw language schools. Keep in mind, many of these schools offer more than one kind of language program.
Schools for English-language students: Many schools in Warsaw, Poland offer English-language instruction. This is especially common in international schools. These schools teach most or all courses in English. They are mostly aimed at English-speaking students from North America. These schools can also be a good fit, though, for Polish students who are good with languages and are looking to improve their English.
Schools for Polish-language students: Polish-language instruction is offered by many schools in Warsaw. While many of these are public or state schools, some are private or non-public. In these schools, all or most courses are taught in Polish. Though most students in these schools are Polish, many foreign students who are competent with the Polish language also attend them. This includes students from the nearby countries of Lithuania, Belarus, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia. It also includes some students from North America with a Polish heritage and/or some facility with the language.
Bilingual schools: Warsaw has plenty of private schools with bilingual programs. Many Warsaw schools offer Polish-English language instruction, with courses taught in both Polish and English. Some other popular programs include English- and Polish-French, and English- and Polish-German instruction. Many of these schools offer both native- and foreign-language instruction (for instance, English-language classes and English-as-Second-Language (ESL) classes).
Language immersion programs: Like many cities in Canada, Warsaw is a popular destination to enroll in a language immersion program. These programs allow your child to take all or most of their courses in a non-native language. To name a few options, there are English, Polish, German, Italian, French, and Korean immersion schools in Warsaw, Poland. Some of these schools also offer a bilingual program, for instance, in English and Polish.
Foreign language programs: Most private Warsaw schools have a wide range of foreign language programs and courses. Unlike immersion schools, these schools aim to teach your child one or more new language(s), with courses focused exclusively on the language(s). Intensive classes are provided to teach your child a foreign language. These are normally offered at different levels, such as beginner, intermediate, and advanced.
