Our son loved Alderwood from Day 1. He speaks so highly about his teachers and classmates and loves the interactive programs, especially physical education and cooking class. He loves doing his creative art activities and attending his theatre class, which really brought him out of his shell over the past 2 years. Where he used to shy away from groups, he now loves to actively participate in lessons and loves performing. His imagination and critical thinking have grown so much since he began attending Alderwood. It's amazing to see how much he has learned and matured over the past 2 years. Our son also definitely appreciates the careful attention he receives from the faculty and highly respects and values their direction and nurturing. It's great to see him have such esteemed role models outside the home.

Why Alderwood Academy?

There are so many reasons why we chose Alderwood for our son. Upon meeting the teachers and directors, we were immediately drawn to their passion and enthusiasm for learning. We felt warmth and reassurance that they would nurture our son's educational, but also spiritual and emotional needs. Alderwood also offers Polish instruction for students who want to learn the Polish language and culture, which, being of Polish descent, was very important to us. His vocabulary has expanded exponentially. We were also very impressed by the school's diverse and interactive learning philosophy, incorporating cooking classes, music, dance, theatre, languages, and physical fitness as ways of applying educational concepts. Finally, as working parents, location was an important factor in our decision to register. The school is very centrally located in South Mississauga and is easy to get to. The facilities are modern and very clean, and located within walking distance to a local park and public library, which the students regularly access.

Expectations vs. Reality

Alderwood Academy has surpassed our expectations. Our son is in SK, and this is his second year attending. All the faculty have this amazing gift of recognizing each child's individual abilities and strengths and pushing them to surpass their potential, while providing individual support in areas that require improvement. We are so impressed by the creative and interactive approach to learning; our son genuinely looks forward to going to school every day. We are also grateful for the support the faculty offer to parents. They genuinely care about their students and work hard to collaborate with parents to ensure a consistent and positive learning environment.

Your Advice

I would advise prospective parents that the school offers Polish language instruction, but it is not mandatory. All students are welcome regardless of their cultural background.
