Toronto, ON | Grades PS - 3 | Shortlist
My children loved going to school at CGS. They knew everybody, people were kind, teachers cared about how they were doing. There is something fairly intangible that makes it such a special place, but is just that...special. I cannot have asked for a better start to my children's school careers.
Quality of student life is high. My kids love going to school because they know the teachers love them, they get along well with their classmates (teachers do a great job at bringing out the best in the kids), and they feel challenged and excited to learn about new things. One area for exploration would be the size of the outdoor play space. Since the school is located in a church, it is quite small and the grounds surrounding it are quite small. As the kids move into grades 1-4, would be nice to have a bigger field for them to use everyday.
Both my kids love to go to school because there are always exciting things happing at school and they feel secure surrounded by teachers and friends they know well. The enrich academic program is delivered in a systematic yet fun-filled approach that facilitates a love of learning. The character education program also sets CGS apart. The strong music program ties into monthly assembly, talent show, Christmas show and annual CGS musical, providing enormous opportunities for the students to build confidence on stage, and develop their talent on vocal and performance arts.
As I mentioned before my son loves CGS and is always excited to return on Monday. Each morning we look at his schedule and talk about what is happening at school that day. His teachers really seem to go out of their way to make sure there is always sometime new and exciting planned for the children each week. They keep things fun and interesting which is one of the reasons why I think he enjoys the program so much.
