(4) Student Experience
Lowell High School has been a great experience for me so far. One of the things I really appreciate is the quiet and focused environment. It helps me stay calm and concentrate on my studies without feeling overwhelmed. The school feels like a place where learning is respected, which is something I value a lot. What’s made the biggest difference, though, is the people. My classmates are passionate, hardworking, and genuinely kind. Their dedication motivates me to work harder, and their support has helped me adjust to the new environment more smoothly than I expected. I’m especially grateful for the way they include and encourage others, whether it’s during group projects or after class. If I could change one thing, I’d add more cozy study spaces around campus. It would be nice to have a few more quiet corners to review notes or talk one-on-one with friends between classes.
(4) School Leadership
Yes, I have a lot of respect for the school leaders at Lowell High School. I truly appreciate each member of the staff. The teachers are always helpful and patient, no matter how many questions we ask or how much support we need. They take the time to explain things clearly and are dedicated to helping us succeed. The guidance counselors are approachable and supportive, and the school staff work hard to create a safe and productive learning environment for everyone. If there’s one thing I wish they did more of, it would be organizing more one-on-one check-ins with students.
(4) Teaching
I think most teachers at Lowell High School have high expectations, but they’re fair. They challenge us to do our best without overwhelming us. I usually feel that I know what’s expected of me because the teachers explain assignments clearly and are open to questions. When they talk about success, I believe they mean more than just getting good grades. They want us to be curious, think critically, and take responsibility for our learning. They also care about personal growth—how we manage our time, work with others, and stay motivated. I think they imagine success as becoming someone who is not only academically prepared but also confident, independent, and ready for challenges beyond school. That kind of support motivates me to keep improving.
(4) Academics
For me, the workload at Lowell High School feels mostly just right. Some assignments are challenging, but I think that’s a good thing because they push me to think more deeply and improve my skills. There are times when the work feels a bit intense, especially during busy weeks, but overall, it’s manageable with good time management. I do believe that what we’re learning will be useful later in life. Subjects like math and science help with problem-solving and critical thinking, while English improves communication and writing skills that are valuable in almost any career. Even group projects and presentations teach us how to work with others and express our ideas clearly. Not everything will directly apply to my future, but the habits and thinking skills I’m building now will definitely help me later on. I appreciate that the school is preparing us for more than just tests.
(3.5) Extracurriculars
I’m not very involved in extracurriculars at the moment. I usually prefer to stay at home after school to relax or hang out with friends occasionally. While there are a lot of clubs and activities at Lowell High School, I sometimes wish there were more casual, low-pressure options for students who just want to connect socially or explore interests without a big time commitment. I think the school offers a wide range of opportunities, but not everyone has the time or energy to join everything they want to. It’s important to have a balance, and I appreciate having that choice.
(3.5) Students
Lowell High School is located in downtown Vancouver, surrounded by a beautiful city view that makes the school feel more like a small, busy city than a quiet town. The students here are diverse, focused, and motivated. Many are passionate about their studies and goals, which creates an inspiring environment. I think students who are confident, open to new experiences, and willing to make friends tend to do best here. It’s important to speak up, ask for help when needed, and get involved, even in small ways. Some students who are shy or overwhelmed by the fast pace may struggle at first, but with time and support, they usually find their place. Overall, most students are kind and respectful, and I believe the school does a good job helping everyone feel included if they’re willing to open up and connect with others.
(4) School Life
If I were giving a tour of Lowell High School, I would first take visitors to the student lounge. It’s a perfect place to start because it really captures the balance between a studious spirit and comfort that defines the school. The lounge is a cozy, welcoming space where students can relax, chat, or study between classes. It shows how Lowell supports both hard work and a sense of community. After spending a bit of time there, I’d lead visitors to a classroom to give them a glimpse of the focused learning environment. The classrooms are bright and organized, with teachers who encourage participation and curiosity. Together, these spaces highlight how Lowell combines a strong academic atmosphere with places that help students feel comfortable and supported. It’s this mix that makes the school feel like a second home while keeping everyone motivated.
(4.5) Community
Yes, Lowell High School does feel like a second home to me. The school community is very inclusive, and I’ve seen how everyone makes an effort to welcome new students and appreciate different backgrounds and perspectives. There’s a strong sense of belonging here, partly because the school organizes many outings and activities that bring students together outside of the classroom. These events make it easier to build friendships and connect with others in a relaxed, fun environment. Whether it’s a field trip, a sports game, or a cultural event, there’s always something happening that helps students feel involved and valued. Knowing that the school cares about both our academic success and our social well-being makes it a place where I feel comfortable and supported every day. That’s why Lowell truly feels like home to me.
(5) School Location
Yes, students at Lowell High School sometimes go off campus, especially during lunch breaks. It’s nice to take a short walk in the city to get some fresh air and clear your mind between classes. Some of us like to visit nearby places like McDonald’s for a quick bite or just to relax with friends before heading back to class. It’s a good way to take a break from the school environment and reset. Still, many students also choose to stay on campus to study, eat lunch, or hang out in quieter spaces—it really depends on the day and the person.
(3.5) Admissions
The admissions process for Lowell High School was a mix of stress and excitement. I remember feeling a lot of pressure to do well on my tests and keep my grades up, but I also saw it as a chance to show what I was capable of. My advice to anyone applying is to stay confident and try your best in every situation—don’t let stress take over. Focus on your strengths and don’t be afraid to ask for help if you need it. What I know now that I didn’t know then is that the process isn’t just about being perfect—it’s about showing your effort, potential, and willingness to grow. Believe in yourself.
